Prepare to be amazed with the scenery and the precariously high footpaths you will be walking through when you do the Discovery Trail at Masungi Georeserve.

Climbing and descending on ropes. Sitting on a sturdy web across rock formations up the mountains. Viewing the world from very high up the tallest rock formations. These are just a few of the experiences filled with fun and adventure that the Masungi Georeserve Discovery Trail gave us.

We chose to trek at 8 am so we departed from Manila at around 5 am to make it in time for our schedule. The trek took us around four hours before we seated at our table with our snacks and cold face towels waiting for us.

Here are some essentials and tips from someone who has done the trail and wants to do it again at night.
How to Register
Request for a visit through the Masungi Georeserve website here for a minimum of 7 people.
Registration fee per person: P1,500 on weekdays / P1,800 on weekends (Note: Fees may have changed. See updated fees here)

Alternatively, you can join a group and have your breakfast and Manila roundtrip transfer taken care of for around P2,600 in Klook. (Book Here)
Masungi Georeserve Address: Kilometer 47, Marcos Highway, Baras, Rizal, Philippines
Time Schedule and Masungi Georeserve Rules
Make sure to be at Masungi Georeserve before your time schedule as groups are scheduled every 15 minutes. Your assigned tour guide will most likely be guiding another group after your schedule.

They are also very strict with the rules as you trek. Being late or disobeying their rules could mean shortening your trail time and not visiting all of the destinations along the trail.

Essentials
Water
You will be doing a lot walking, climbing, and descending along the trail. Make sure to fuel your body for the adventure.
Snacks
The registration fee includes a light snack, and cold face towel, after the trek but it is better to also bring your own snacks in case you need to fill your body with energy along the trail.

Extra Shirt
It was windy and not so hot as we did the trail starting at 8 am but the adventure sure made us sweat. You may also get dirty along the trail which includes passing through caves and canopies.

Forged friendships made this trip more special because of the minimum of 7 people needed to initially register. I planned this with a dear friend, Eunice, and inviting common friends made us come up with 10 people to successfully do the trail.

We finished the trail at around 12 noon with all-out smiles and spent the afternoon at one our friends’ house bonding over pizza and pasta for lunch which we bought at SNR Antipolo.

My special thanks to my dear friend, Eunice, for driving us to Masungi Georeserve early in the morning and back to Metro Manila from Antipolo after our 4-hour trek and lunch. Such impeccable alertness only possessed by legitimate drivers like me. Haha

This was a day well spent with good friends and a close contact with trees, rocks, and much of nature through the Masungi Georeserve Discovery Trail.

If I ever get to do the trail again, I would do it at night under the moonlight to get in touch with the nocturnal creatures.

Let’s form a group of seven and do the Discovery Trail at night! Who’s up for this? 🙂
Natasha was a full-time banker who got to take a breather when she traveled. She loves the outdoors so much. She is currently in the UK pursuing postgraduate studies!
