Places to Visit and Things to Do in York

Skeldergate Bridge York
Spread the love

Enjoy the beauty of York as you walk around through its city walls, through the esplanade right beside River Ouse, through Clifford’s Tower and Baile Hill for good overlooking views, and more!

City Walls

City Walls York
The City Walls in York reminded me so much of my trip to Suwon, the only remaining completely walled city in South Korea!

I accidentally found myself walking through York’s City Walls when I made my way to Baile Hill for an overlooking view. Get yourself a good overlooking view of York from Baile Hill for a good start to walk through the City Walls!

City Walls York
What a treat on lovely weather as I did the City Walls walk!

Clifford’s Tower

Clifford's Tower York
I found a real-life chessboard rook in Clifford’s Tower!

I visited Clifford Tower for yet another overlooking view and found myself in front of the  York Crown Court and York Castle Museum!

York Eye
That’s the York Castle Museum and York Crown Court on a lovely sunny day at the foot of Clifford’s Tower!

Skeldergate Bridge and Tower Gardens

I made my way to Tower Gardens for a good walk since it was very close to Clifford’s Tower and I found myself beside River Ouse and the beautiful Skeldergate Bridge!

Skeldergate Bridge York
Skeldergate Bridge would be the most enchanting bridge I have seen so far. Look at those details!
The Shambles

Make your way to The Shambles for Shambles Market and for a dainty street lined with good shops and food to choose from especially if you are a Harry Potter fan!

The Shambles York
I found myself outside The Shop That Must Not Be Named at The Shambles!
The Esplanade and River Ouse

River Ouse Esplanade York

I found myself in the esplanade as I ended my walk through the City Walls and took a seat beside the serenity of River Ouse!

River Ouse Esplanade York
Cruisers, rowers, and spectators like me are all enjoying this relaxing view of the River Ouse at the Esplanade!

My time at York was limited and I would have visited and explored other corners within the city like the National Railway Museum and other parks but these would do for now.

I highly recommend booking the York City Sightseeing Hop-On Hop-off Bus Pass for unlimited bus rides around the city for 24 hours.

York City Walls Walk
I would go back to York to do this City Walls Walk again! 🙂

I found York very beautiful and I found myself smiling and enjoying as I walked around these places. What do you think of York? 🙂
